Rules of behavior in case of emergency situations

Avalanche

An avalanche is a mass of snow that quickly slides down the steep slopes of the mountains.

Basic rules of behavior in places where there is a possibility of an avalanche:

- do not go to the mountains in snowy and bad weather;

- while on the mountain, pay attention to weather changes, walk away from avalanche prone areas and steep slopes.

When an avalanche starts:

- if the avalanche starts at a high altitude, immediately try to run away from its path, hide under a nearby rock;

- if it is impossible to escape from an avalanche, throw away bags and other items, crouch down, tuck your knees into your stomach and let your body move in the direction of the snow flow.

In case of avalanche:

- cover your mouth and nose with a scarf, gloves, or the collar of your clothes to protect your respiratory tract from snow;

- try to get to the surface or edge of the avalanche by moving your arms as if you are swimming in the water

- when the snow movement stops, try to make space around the chest and face with your arms to breathe comfortably under the snow;

- try to move towards the surface of the avalanche;

- if you can't get out of the snow on your own, don't scream or do other things. Wait for rescuers without panic, don't fall asleep.
