Rules of behavior in case of emergency situations
Flood
A flood is a mixed flow of water coming from the mountains, bringing with it a lot of sand, clay, gravel, stones, and pieces of wood.
How to be prepared for floods:
- learn in advance the location of the nearby heights and the shortest routes to them;
- have an emergency pack handy with a certain amount of food, water, medical supplies, important documents, money, flashlight and warm clothes.
What to do in case of flood:
- go to a pre-defined safe area in case of danger and an evacuation order;
- don't forget to take the emergency pack;
- if leaving the house, turn off gas, electricity and water and disconnect appliances, close the doors and windows;
- if you have time, put the important items on the upper floor of the house or in the attic
- release pets;
- if you cannot leave the house, stay upstairs or in the attic until help arrives or the water level drops;
- give a signal for help with a clearly visible cloth tied to a piece of wood during the day, and with light or sound means at night;
- follow the instructions of the rescuers;
- you can leave the flooded area independently only if there is a need for emergency help, when the water level rises rapidly and there is no hope for rescuers to arrive;
- take off heavy and tight clothes to move comfortably in the water;
- hold on to an unsinkable item that will allow you to stay afloat until help arrives (car tire, wooden item, etc.);
- swim in the direction of the water flow, save your energy.
What to do after floods:
- you can return home only after the permission of the relevant institutions;
- when you return home, do not turn on gas and electricity supply systems without making sure that they are in order;
- to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, quickly collect the garbage brought by floods and clean the yard and the house;
- use the source of drinking water after proper sanitary inspection.
