An award ceremony of the winners of the 12th Republic Children’s Art Competition “Emergency situations through the eyes of children” organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Science and Education was held on December 18.
The event was attended by Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli, Sector Head at the Department of Youth Policy and Sport Issues of the Presidential Administration Hamid Nasirov, Acting Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation Gadir Khalilov, officials from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Ministry of Science and Education, veteran Major Suleyman Heydarov, winners of the competition, public representatives and parents.
The aim of the competition is to attract the public’s attention to the problems related to emergency situations, promote safe life activity culture among the school children, bring them up in the patriotic spirit, identify talented children and to support them.
First, the participants of the event laid flowers at the monument to the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and paid tribute to the National Leader.
Then, an exhibition organized by selected works of the 12th Republic Children’s Art Competition “Emergency situations through the eyes of children” was viewed.
The ceremony to award the winners was held after the exhibition.
First, the State Anthem was played.
Then, speaking at the event, Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov reminded the wise words of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, "Children are our future. The mornings of our country, nation, and state will depend on how we bring up our future," and recalled that the National Leader always treated children with special attention and care.
The Minister emphasized that the progressive state children's policy, founded by the Great Leader, is being successfully continued today by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Necessary measures are being taken to ensure that children grow up in a safe and decent environment, ensure their health, acquire modern knowledge, and grow up as citizens with high moral qualities who are loyal to the Motherland and the state in our country. Reminding that, as Mr. President emphasized, the sons of the Motherland born during the years of Azerbaijan's independence played an important role in achieving Victory in the Second Karabakh War thanks to the targeted measures implemented in the country, the Minister wished mercy to our martyrs and healing to our veterans.
The Minister also emphasized that the sensitive attitude of First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva towards children, her high level of care for them, and the great work she has done in comprehensive development, education, and upbringing of children are gratefully received by our people.
Reminding the successful holding of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan in November of this year, K. Heydarov said that the decisions taken in Baku regarding the fight against climate change, which poses serious challenges and threats to humanity, once again clearly demonstrated that our country made worthy contributions to the faster implementation of the global fight against climate change.
Kamaladdin Heydarov emphasized that acquiring knowledge and skills on the necessary safe behavior rules in case of emergency situations from an early age, especially during school years, plays an important role in forming a general culture of safe life activities in society. Since its first year of operation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which pays serious attention to teaching schoolchildren the rules of behavior in emergency situations and applying effective methods to prepare them morally and psychologically for such situations, regularly holds educational events, exercises, Olympiads, and competitions.
In this context, the Minister spoke about the importance of the Republic Children’s Art Competition “Emergency situations through the eyes of children” held jointly by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Science and Education and congratulated the winners of the competition, which attracted great interest among schoolchildren, and wished them further success.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov talked about the importance of the competition and congratulated the winners. F. Gayibov noted that the competition have a positive impact on identifying talented children, increasing their knowledge in the field of emergency situations, and their comprehensive development.
Then, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli and Acting Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation Gadir Khalilov congratulated the children who won the competition and emphasized the role of the competition in helping them acquire the necessary knowledge and skills related to emergencies and in forming a culture of safe life activities.
Then, honorary diplomas and valuable gifts were given to the winners.
The event continued with an artistic part presented by schoolchildren in the spirit of national patriotism.
The competition, in which pupils from secondary schools in all cities and regions of the country participated, started in October. The competition was held at school, regional and republican championship stages on the nominations of drawings, posters, handicrafts, models of firefighting and rescue equipment, fluffy toy. A total of 439 drawings, 49 posters, 393 handicrafts, 98 models of firefighting and rescue equipment and 78 fluffy toys were submitted to the Organizing Committee on the outcomes of the region and city competitions. The works were assessed by the jury composed of the representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Science and Education, the Union of Artists, and the Academy of Arts, and the winners were determined. 25 persons took the first place, 25 persons the second place and 58 persons the third place. Incentive diplomas were given to 80 persons.
