Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations attended event held within framework of WUF13
An event on the theme "Early Warning and Climate-Resilient Cities" was held within the framework of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum.
The event was organized to demonstrate the importance of early warning systems for climate-resilient cities and to discuss the role of nature-based approaches and ecosystem-oriented adaptation in reducing climate risks.
The event was attended by senior officials of relevant local agencies and foreign representatives.
Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Jabrayil Khanlarov delivered a speech at the event.
The Deputy Minister stated that measures to combat the impacts of global climate change are considered an integral part of the activities carried out in Azerbaijan to protect the population and territories from emergencies. In this regard, early warning is particularly important for the development of climate-resilient and safe cities. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan supports initiatives related to the formation of large-scale early warning systems and continues its activities in this direction within its authority.
The Deputy Minister noted that at every stage of construction activities, including the design phase, the impact of construction works on the environment and the influence of environmental factors on urban infrastructure are constantly monitored.
