MES appeals to the public to observe fire safety rules during the grain harvesting season (video)

Grain production plays a vital role in ensuring the food supply for the population. In this regard, protecting highly flammable grain fields from fire is one of the key requirements for safeguarding the country's food security.

Given that the harvest season coincides with the hottest and driest period of the year, the Ministry of Emergency Situations calls on the public, including farm owners and those involved in grain harvesting, to strictly observe fire safety rules. The Ministry also reiterates the following simple but essential fire safety rules:

- It is strictly banned to light matches, use open flames, or smoke in grain fields, as well as to set bonfires near them. These locations should be provided with designated smoking areas;

- It is banned to throw around unextinguished cigarette butts or matches, materials soaked in flammable liquids, as well as glass containers and glass shards while moving on the road;

- The area around grain fields should be periodically cleaned of dry grass and waste;

- The equipment involved in the harvest should be provided with primary fire extinguishing equipment and should undergo a fire-technical inspection before starting the harvest;

- It is strictly forbidden to park the technique in the fields after work, to refuel at night, to allow fuel and oils to spill, to store additional fuel and lubricants in the equipment;

- Field camps, grain cleaning threshing floors, and areas where hay and straw are stored must be provided with primary fire extinguishing equipment;

- Protective firebreaks should be established between cultivated fields and forest areas, roads, and railway lines;

- In case of a fire, the work must be stopped immediately and the people around must be informed, the fire must be tried to extinguish by means of primary fire extinguishers (fire extinguisher, water, soil, thick cloth, etc.) and the “112” hotline must be informed.

It should be noted that burning fields after harvesting is banned, and anyone who engages in this practice is subject to administrative liability.

Remember: Indifference to the rules is a threat to our lives!

Call 112 in case of danger!
