MES representatives attend INSARAG events

Representatives of the International Search-and-Rescue Unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations attended the meeting of the Monitoring Board of the International Search-and-Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) operating under the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs within the framework of the Humanitarian Networks and Cooperation Week in Geneva, Switzerland.

Management and activity arrangements were discussed at the meeting attended by representatives of non-governmental organizations partnering with INSARAG member states.

During the event, information was given about the work plan of the INSARAG Secretariat and planned activities, and it was brought to attention that the number of teams wishing to join the INSARAG network continues to grow. Also, views were exchanged in the working groups on the improvement of Guiding Documents, suggestions and recommendations were discussed.

The importance of protecting human rights in case of emergencies and providing prompt and effective medical assistance to the injured, paying attention to flood disasters due to climate change, registering voluntarily declared international water rescue teams and developing cooperation in this field was noted during the discussions.

Within the framework of the event, a working meeting was held between the representatives of the INSARAG Secretariat and the International Search-and-Rescue Unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, views were exchanged on preparatory measures for the INSARAG international classification and the work to be done.
