The International Search and Rescue Team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan conducted another 36-hour continuous tactical-special training session on 31 July - 2 August, 2024. The training involved the participation personnel of the International Search and Rescue Team of the Ministry and employees of the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB), aiming to prepare for international humanitarian operations.
Based on the guidelines of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA), a tactical-special training was conducted in the areas of Turkan and Hovsan settlements in the capital. The training focused on the objectives and tasks of the International Search and Rescue Unit’s management, coordination, search and rescue, logistics, and medical personnel during rescue operations. This included conducting assessment activities in the area, rescuing victims from under debris, rescuing from confined spaces and heights, providing first aid and medical evacuation procedures, adhering to technical safety rules in international humanitarian operations and instilling practical skills for the protection of life and health. Additionally, during the night-time portion of the training, security issues at the base of operation and in rescue areas were kept in focus, ensuring that search and rescue operations continued continously. This was achieved by allowing personnel to rest in shifts in tents set up at the base of operation.
The set of objectives during the tactical-special training were successfully achieved.
