Rules of behavior in case of emergency situations

Nuclear explosion

A nuclear explosion occurs during an accident at facilities where sources of ionizing radiation are used, and during the use of nuclear weapons. At this time, a strong sound and shaking are felt, and a dazzling fireball is formed in the sky. A few minutes after the explosion, the soil, open water sources, air, vegetation, buildings, etc. are contaminated with radioactive substances over an area of tens and sometimes hundreds of kilometers. Living beings are exposed to serious physical injuries, radioactive radiation through food, water, and air.

Safety rules in case of a nuclear explosion:

- even if the explosion occurs at a distance, the wave and radioactive dust clouds can reach you in 30 seconds or later;

- do not look at the dazzling fireball of the explosion (you can lose your vision due to the effect of the beam);

- try to be indoors or in an underground shelter as soon as possible to avoid radiation;

- close the doors, windows, and ventilation systems of the place where you are, and close the pores;

- if you cannot find a closed place, take shelter behind any object where you can defend yourself, protect your respiratory tract and eyes with any protective equipment (cloth, gas mask, protective mask, glasses, etc.), and cover your whole body;

- lie down on the floor (or ground), press your head to your chest, and protect it with your arms;

- do not leave the place where you are without the instructions of the relevant authorities, follow their instructions (evacuation, etc.);

- if you feel any changes in your health, call for emergency medical help;

- do not touch items contaminated with radioactive substances (this can be any item you see in the area);

- do not approach areas marked with " Radiation Hazard" or "Hazardous Materials" signs;

- move quickly and as far as possible from areas contaminated with radioactive substances;

- observe prohibitions on the use of agricultural products, fish, and meat produced in the contaminated area;

- in case of radioactive danger, keep pets indoors by providing them with food and water for several days, and limiting contact with them.
