A course on the topic "Organization of management and coordination during international search and rescue operations" was held at the Ganja Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, organized by the Main Operational Department of the Ministry.

The primary purpose of the course was to enhance the knowledge and skills of employees from structural units located in the city of Ganja, as well as personnel of the Ganja Regional Center, who are involved in planning operations and managing headquarters, in the effective organization of management and coordination during international humanitarian operations.

The 3-days course emphasized the importance of management and coordination during international humanitarian operations. Participants were introduced to documents prepared in accordance with the guidelines of the “International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG)”, as well as the use of “GPS” systems during humanitarian operations, the capabilities and functioning principles of the “Virtual On-Site Operations Coordination Centre (VOSOCC)” and the “INSARAG Coordination and Management System (ICMS)”, and the role of media in international humanitarian operations.

Additionally, participants were briefed and shown demonstrations on the operation principles of the “Urban Search and Rescue Coordination Cell (UCC)” and the “Reception/Departure Centre (RDC)”, both equipped with necessary documents and tools. The participants also became familiar both theoretically and practically with the modern satellite communication tools used in the management and coordination of humanitarian operations.

At the end of the course, a video showcasing the preparation and classification period of the MES International Search and Rescue Unit was presented.
