Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov meets with UNICEF Representative in our country Saja Farooq Abdullah
Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, met with a delegation led by United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Azerbaijan Saja Farooq Abdullah.
Warmly welcoming the guests, Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov noted that the Azerbaijani state always pays special attention to ensuring the safety of children, their protection, and their living and growing up in a safe environment, and takes important steps in this field.
In this context, the minister spoke about the activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan in preventing natural and man-made emergencies in our country, eliminating their consequences, ensuring the safety of the population—especially vulnerable groups, including children—and highlighted the successful cooperation with relevant international organizations in this field. In this regard, he reminded that close relations have been established between the Ministry and the UNICEF Representative Office in Azerbaijan, and a number of joint projects have been successfully implemented over the past years.
Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov gave detailed information to the guests about the work done and measures taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the field of child safety and emphasized the great potential for expanding cooperation with the UNICEF Representative Office in Azerbaijan in this field.
United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Azerbaijan Saja Farooq Abdullah thanked for the warm welcome and emphasized that COP29, a globally significant event, was successfully hosted by Azerbaijan in November last year.
Saja Farooq Abdullah provided detailed information about the activities of the organization she leads and noted the importance of further expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the field of child safety in our country.
Issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
