“Young rescuer” International Competition and final stage of “Young rescuer and firefighter” Republic Championship organized by MES started (video, photo)

On June 30, 2024, the 10th “Young rescuer” International Competition and the final stage of the 11th “Young rescuer and firefighter” Republic Championship organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations started in the city of Gabala.

Teams from Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Belarus are participating in this year's competitions held with the support of the Ministries of Science and Education, Youth and Sports, Gabala District Executive Authority.

The participants of the event first came to the Alley of Honor in Baku to pay tribute to Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev and lay a wreath and flowers at his monument. Then, they visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate those who gave their lives for the country’s independence and territorial integrity, laid flowers at their graves and laid a wreath at the “Eternal Flame” monument.

The opening ceremony of the 10th “Young rescuer” International Competition and the final stage of the 11th “Young rescuer and firefighter” Republic Championship was held in Gabala on June 30.

The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov, employees of the Ministry, the Head of the Gabala District Executive Authority Sabuhi Abdullayev, officials of local Science and Education, Youth and Sports departments, law enforcement agencies and children and family members of the martyrs of the Patriotic War attended the ceremony.

The ceremony started with the bringing of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the square and the playing of the State Anthem.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the competitions, the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, Major-General Adil Abdullayev and the Head of the Gabala District Executive Authority Sabuhi Abdullayev spoke about the importance of the competitions and wished success to the participants.

Then the ceremonial march of the teams that participated in the competitions was held.

Later, the opening of the competitions continued with a gala concert.

The aim of the “Young rescuer and firefighter” Republic Championship is to raise the level of preparedness of teenagers and youth for emergency situations, increase the schoolchildren’s responsible approach to personal and public safety and instill patriotism and healthy lifestyle in the schoolchildren.

The competition is organized in four stages - school, district (city), zone, and republic competitions. This year, teams from 18 districts and cities will compete for the championship in the final stage of the Republic Championship.

Also, 19 children of martyrs from different districts of the republic were invited to this year's competition. Additional programs are considered in order to effectively organize their free time.

Teams from Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, and Belarus will compete in the “Young rescuer” International Competition.

The competitions will continue until July 6.
