Media representatives familiarized themselves with progress of humanitarian demining activities
Large-scale humanitarian demining activities are ongoing in Karabakh and East Zangezur as part of the Great Return program.
Media tours are regularly organized to the liberated territories to raise public awareness about the progress of activities aimed at combating the mine threat.
The next media tour was organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Aghdam district.
As is known, after the end of the Patriotic War, besides the relevant agencies, the special military unit of the Special Risky Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which had undergone relevant training in this field, was involved in the operations to clear the territories from mines and unexploded ordnance, including unexploded remnants of war. Operations are carried out in designated areas, in villages and settlements, as well as in areas outside drinking water basins and along water channels.
Thanks to the attention and care of the President of the country, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the personnel involved in the mine clearance operation were equipped with the most modern techniques and equipment, including special-purpose mechanical mine clearance machines. Employees obtained accreditation through their participation in international courses in this field.
As part of the media tour, introduction to demining operations took place in Mollalar, Kurdlar and Alimadatli villages of Aghdam district by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and in Sarijali village of the district by ANAMA. Clearance operations are carried out using manual demining, mine detection dogs, and special purpose mechanical demining machines.
It should be noted that, as a result of demining operations conducted in Aghdam district, 37,154 hectares of land were cleared, and 31,500 units of mines and unexploded ordnance were discovered and neutralized.
Activities were carried out to clear mines and other explosive remnants of war from the Barda-Aghdam railway, Barda-Aghdam highway, Fuzuli-Aghdam highway, Aghdam-Hindarkh-Aghjabadi highway, Aghdam industrial park area, farmlands, orchards, non-ore mineral-raw material deposit areas, water channels, gas pipelines and other infrastructure projects of the Aghdam district.
