MES appeals to public regarding use of non-beach areas

Despite the mass awareness-raising activities carried out by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, we regret to note that there are still cases where some people, including children and teenagers, use canals, rivers, ditches, artificial lakes, and other water bodies that are not intended for beaches and in a number of instances, it leads to tragic consequences.

Thus, from June 1 to the present day, 12 drowning deaths have been recorded in such non-beach areas.

It should be noted that the dangerous underwater relief, strong currents, uncertain depth, limited visibility, and other dangerous features of canals, ditches, rivers, lakes, and other water bodies not intended for beaches pose a serious threat to life and health when used for cooling off in the summer.

In this regard, the Ministry of Emergency Situations once again appeals to the population, especially parents, not to leave children and adolescents unattended, to strictly follow relevant safety rules, and to avoid using water bodies that are not intended for beaches.
